Polypropylene rope is the most popular all purpose rope for the average consumer. It is a high quality, light-weight rope that is affordable and very functional. It has great working qualities and appearance. Polypropylene rope is rot resistant and floats, making it very popular for water sports and markers.
Polypropylene rope softens progressively with a rise in temperature, and because of this plastic behaviour, combined with a relatively low melting point, it is not suitable for use in hot conditions. It is not as tough as nylon or polyester, but is does not lose strength when wet, it deteriorates in sunlight, but is immune to attack by rot and mildew and is highly resistant to attack by acids and alkalis, although industrial solvents have a softening effect. It is also an excellent non-conductor of electricity.
Main purpose: for ocean shipping, fishing, port handing, defense industry, shipbuilding and heavy industry, and oil exploration etc.
